Anti-Rape Revolution! Yet the devil dances to his own tune

Well known painter Laxman Aelay expresses his grief and anger in this painting, following the traumatic death of the Delhi's brutal gang rape victim in Singapore

The “leaders” no one wish to follow, those who have turned a deaf ear to all but self interest. The law makers, the egoists, the tyrants of democracy appear to be everything from businessmen to criminals to absolutely insensitive but not the leaders we expect them to be.

The angry desperate parents, the old and courageous, the vigorous and full of zest youth, all have shown bravery, all have shown the strength of their testament, appearing in large numbers in biting cold to protest . The misogyny, chauvinism which have penetrated our society like an epidemic have polluted the minds of many. 90% of rapes are committed by someone the victim knows !

While the country mourned for the departed soul “Nirbhaya”, the victim of a gang rape in a moving bus who ultimately lost her life, a staggering 25 rapes happened all over the country. This protest needs to keep its fire burning for if it is vanquished this time, their might not be another .A list of shameful rapes after the rape of “Nirbhaya” :

•       U.P: In Faizabad a girl gang raped by 6 came to the police for help and then raped by a police official in the pretext of helping her!
•  Gujrat: In Ahemedabad a man raped his two and a half year old relative and dumped her in the fields, the girl died on the Christmas day.
•  Andhra Pradesh: In Hyderabad, a man raped his 5yr old neighbor.
•   Maharashtra: In Mumbai, three men raped a Nepalese woman in different locations on the very same day.
•   Maharashtra: In Trombay, a man raped a 15yr old differently abled girl.
•   U.P: 42 yr old woman sedated and raped by three and dumped in Delhi’s Kalkaji area.
•    Rajasthan: 16 yr old abducted and gang raped by three inside a moving car, later was found dumped in the desert.

These are just a few of many that have occurred all across the country despite the fact the whole nation is bubbling with rage and demanding reform, it goes on to show that the demon lurking in the minds of potential rapists is still unafraid.

We are looking at huge numbers everyday marching the streets with candles in their hands and slogans in their mouth but it saddens me to see that there are still people considering this as just another protest, just another article in the newspaper ! I for one was talking about my previous article, Top 8 stupid things that politicians did and got this response “ I am not interested in politics nor what the politicians say” I was taken aback by such a statement. NO one is “interested” in politics much but one must have the knowledge of the leaders of the nation they live in and all that they say do and do not do because ultimately they are the people who set the law, who are responsible for everything that goes on around us and the norms which dictate our day to day lives. DO NOT BE A ZOMBIE !

 Be active, keep track and protest because a country which doesn't have opposition, which is not subject to questioning is no democracy.
