Irritated of that constant ringing ?

Mobile phone as they were earlier called is a Grand Business now. Needless to say it is of much importance and I can not stress enough, how different world would be or rather was when their was no cell phone or rather any phone for that matter. People lived in a community acted like one and I must say were as close to each other as one can get, which can not be said about today.

Today people are more close to the person on their phone rather than the one in front of them and when that person from the phone comes face to face we are then close to someone else on the phone! This is the cycle of twisted communication that we humans today have adopted and it ain't going anywhere.

My recent frustration towards these always “buzzing” objects came to be, after the realization that the time wasted on a phone causes the real life to stop.We are know dependent on a phone to tell us what to do, when to wake up e.t.c but beyond its few merits like emergency calls and crisis it is waste of precious time and death of personalisation . 

SWITCH IT OFF, AT LEAST FOR A BUNCH OF HOURS A DAY

God knows how many bucks people actually spend on these things! Its unbelievable..THE NEW I PHONE, GOT TO HAVE IT ! and they make new ones like every other year, I think and yeah they make oceans of that green paper.

I personally feel cell phones should have a time limit that restricts calling beyond a certain point which would increase “real” conversations and mobiles would be used only for emergencies and not to show how “busy” we are .

I declare April to be a cell free month at least for me .So if u call me and I don’t pick then that means I have stuck to my statement and I am doing real and productive things rather than talking on the new “idiot box” .

A person can’t be simply distinguished as good or bad but it depends on his/her reaction to the circumstances that forms the individuality of that person. We all have many attributes inside us. Sometimes they tend to contravene each other and then our personality is dominated with a stronger one. For example however good you may be, there are times when the devilish part of you supersedes the angelic you.

Sometimes the ordeals that people face in life are so traumatic that the mind reacts to it by DISSOCIATION. It is a mechanism, in which the mind blocks the consciousness and captivates it in an imaginary personality, so that the real (host) personality is cut off from that trauma. It is like hypnotizing yourself to prevent the harsh situations. If the same practice is adopted repeatedly for a prolonged period, these imaginary personalities start taking hold on the consciousness. This results in Dissociative Identity Disorder (D.I.D), formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder. D.I.D is the extreme case scenario of dissociation while the mild ones are getting lost in the moment or daydreaming.

In simple words DID is an illness when a person can be identified with two or more distinct personalities which react differently to the situations. The causes are vague but the victims mostly have suffered severe agonies during childhood (mostly below the age of nine) from being physically, mentally, emotionally or sexually tortured. There are some biological and environmental factors too, DID can run along families and it is found higher in women than men.

The different personalities that are recognized in case of DID are called “alters”. They can range from two to hundreds, can be of different age, sex, or race, can have varying body language and can even dislike each other. The “switching” between personalities can take seconds to days and are often spontaneous and involuntary. Switching can be prompted by stress or if the trauma is revived.

DID came across the world through media, there have been movies showing the torments of DID sufferers. “The three faces of eve” and “Sybil” being the famous ones. While the former told the real life story of Chris Sizemore, who had three split personalities the later was the story of Shirley Mason. They made DID popular undoubtedly, but hardly could they paint the real life picture. In real life Sizemore had twenty two alters and not just three and it took forty five years to treat her so that she could lead a normal life.

Although her name is Kim but she doesn’t like to be called Kim, it is Patricia who is her dominant personality the other alters are Judy, Hayley, Ria etc. As it has always sounded odd, many people have been leery of DID. But the recent researches by the Swinburne University of Technology, Victoria, Australia have concluded that the alters are not fake but true. They compared professional actors’ conditions while playing on screen characters with the victim when they switched into different alters. Their conditions were different and the doubt over DID being fake was eliminated.

The causes are vaguely known, the diagnosis cannot be made in early stages, no cure has yet been discovered, no treatment can guarantee elimination not only this but a life with troublesome symptoms like hallucinations, memory loss, almost no social circle etc are some of the infinite tribulations faced by people suffering with DID.

Our consciousness is unified; it is a collection of all our experiences together like while saying anything we can hear at the same time, can smell and feel. But incase of DID the different personalities exist as individuals and not as a collection.

One sees something utterly absurd some day, the next day he wakes up and finds out the same disgusting thing is the new frenzy, and then the next day he is himself caught up in the the same eccentric trend. Sometimes things can’t be ignored at all, you hate them or you like them but there’s no way to overpass them.

Released on June 15^th 2012, this video became the first to get a billion views on Youtube and even got a Guinness world record.

He may not be admired by all, he might have the same number of haters and fans but there’s something about him that makes him really POPULAR. Justin Bieber, a Canadian teenager who boasts his 30 million followers on twitter only next to Lady Gaga, Forbes ranking making him the third most powerful celebrity in the world and the most active fan base on facebook. If you don’t know Justin Bieber you’re probably outlandish. Bieber is most commonly targeted by internet trolls, commenting on his sexuality, his girly hair style and voice, and his undeserved popularity. But then there is this huge insane fan base “Beliebers” which is so berserk that when Bieber tweeted a picture tagging Kim Kardarshian and jokingly calling her girlfriend, Kardarshian received some death threats. So you find this JB fever all around very easily which includes admiring him or mocking him.

The money trap

When similar information about anything is provided to our brain for a long time repeatedly, the brain stops processing that word and rejects it. One such word for the Indians is “SCAM”. The research conducted over a period of six months in the Neurosciences centre at AIIMS revealed that the word scam had been repeated about 155,495,785 times in media during the period of the research. This research was conducted in 2012. I’m sure you must have recognized which all scandals stormed the media then. Let’s dig a little deeper and find out what actually happened that paved the way for these swindles to come across the entire nation.

Starting with one of the biggest scams in India, the “2G SPECTRUM SCANDAL”, it involved irregularities on the part of telecom ministry during the distribution of 2G licenses to private telecom players. Many came under probe for the corrupt scam. But it was Andimuthu Raja, the then telecom minister who came out to be the main culprit.

Brass tacks - The scam goes back to 2008, when the 2G licenses were distributed to the private telecom companies. 122 licenses were issued in total on first come first serve basis on 2001 prices but not on the market prices. The cut-off date was brought forward from the initially decided date of 1^st October 2007 to 25^th September 2007. This switch eliminated a lot of applications enabling the favoritism policy. It is required as per law that companies meeting the eligibility criteria and having some prior experience in the field can be issued the licenses but in this case, Unitech and Swan Telecom got licenses without any prior experience. All this resulted in a loss of about 1.76 lakh crore rupees.

Scam exposed - After the sale of 3G spectrum the exchequer earned a huge profit, since then the 2G spectrum was viewed from questionable eyes. Although, officially it was the Centre for Public Litigation that filed the first petition for the irregularities and then other petitions followed to the Central Vigilance Commission(CVC). Other star whistleblower was Aseervartham Achary who was A. Raja’s personal assistant for some time when the fraud was happening in real.

Another big corporate scandal was the “SATYAM SCANDAL”. It was a scam that involved fake accounting aspects developed by the management of the Satyam computers.

The nitty-gritty - The mastermind of the scandal, Ramalinga Raju developed a way by which he could create fake accounts involving fake cash balances, fake salary accounts of fake employees, fake liabilities etc. This led to a strong balance sheet presentation. Satyam raised to such a level that in no time it was one of the fastest growing IT companies.

Catch-22 Situation - All was going very well for Raju, but suddenly on 7^th January 2009 all of it ended with a confession letter. The reason was simple, the fake accounts created a gap in the balance sheet. For every asset there is a liability and vice versa but because in this case there were no real accounts, that led to an imbalance. The gap could not be filled at all. “It was like riding a tiger, not knowing how to get off without being eaten”. The forlorn hope to fill the gap was to acquire Maytas Infrastructure ( company owned by Raju’s sons). But many shareholders backed out from this proposal, this made him confess the shrewd swindle himself.

 The last one that is worth mentioning is the well known stock scandal by"HASHAD MEHTA". It dates back to 1992, when this genius realized the loopholes in the Indian banking system and exploited them for his own benefit.

The straight dope - Earlier the banks used to maintain some government securities in proportion of their total holdings this was the Statutory Liquidity Ratio. The banks entered into the practice of trading these securities by the Ready Forward(RF) deal. This was carried out with the help of a broker, Harshad Mehta was one such trusted broker. The banks gave the securities to broker to sell them to any other bank, it was a kind of loan for the banks. The acknowledgement were the bank receipts(BR) issued by the seller of the securities. Mehta found two banks which could produce fake BRs, so he showed banks fake BRs and in lieu got some money. He was such an expert at this that he managed to make a lot of money through it.

What blew off the lid? - It was Sucheta Dalal, a journalist who first detected this hoax. On April 23, 1992 in her article she disclosed the illegal trading performed by Harshad Mehta.

Between the devil and the deep blue sea, where comes the BERMUDA TRIANGLE?

Mystery has never been something exceptional to us. Even simplest of things can be conferred as intricate abnormalities. One such mystery is the “BERMUDA TRIANGLE”. It refers to an area in the North Atlantic Ocean and is said to be bounded by points in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico. It is famous as a place where planes and ships sinisterly disappear into nothingness. It is also called “THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE”. It is neither an actual triangle nor is its name recognized officially. There are two ways of looking at this; one being scientific explanations to the anomalies the other being explanations which sound erratic but till now have not been refuted absolutely. There’s still a lurking question about the Bermuda triangle being a place of paranormal activities.

The unusual activities have been reported by many people, the first one being witnessed by Christopher Columbus. He reported that the compass readings came out wrong, white water and glowing green fog could be seen. There have been many incidents which suggest some abnormality in the region. The most peculiar ones being Flight 19(1945) and Ellen Austin(1881). Flight 19 was a bomber aircraft which went for training but never returned. It is said to have been disappeared in the air. One aircraft afterwards with 13 crew members were sent to rescue the flight, they were also reported missing. The other incident is that of Ellen Austin, the ship which came across another ship without any crew members on board in the Bermuda triangle. The crew decided to tow the ship back to New York along with Ellen Austin, so it transferred some of the crew in that ship. Then a storm separated the two ships. The other ship could never be found again. Some stories say that the ship was seen again by Ellen Austin but was again without any crew.

Around 66 ships and planes have been reported missing around the triangle region. It is believed that Bruce Gernon has been one of the few people to have come out of the triangle safely. Gernon says he had witnessed a time warp of thirty minutes because he passed through a time vortex, which is in the devil’s triangle.
Undoubtedly, there is something aberrant about the region. The magnetic compass usually points the north but in the Bermuda triangle it points the true north which is the magnetic south. The weather is also weird because without any warning the region is stormed and there are deep water currents too.

Coming on to the explanations, the craziest ones are alien abduction in the area and the magical powers radiating huge amounts of energy which were buried with the mythical city of Atlantis. The magical powers are said to influence the navigational instruments resulting in their malfunction, which would lead the ships and the planes to lose their way or the powers could destroy them completely.
The scientific explanations offered include that the place might have been hit by a comet having strange electromagnetic properties 11,000 years back. This explain the weird magnetic behavior of the place but it still lacks proof as the comet may or may not have hit the region.

Another explanation which is by far the most reasonable concludes that all this caused by methane hydrates. It reckons that the triangle has trapped methane gas beneath the waters which is aroused by any water landslide or tectonic movements, this methane gas has a property of reducing the water density resulting in sinking of the ships, if this gas goes high up in the air then this can dismantle an airplane too. The questionable aspect here is that can it go that high?

The other reasons could be pirates, bizarre weather patterns and the gulf stream( the water current) which never lead to the discovery of any wrecked part of the ship or the plane. In the end of course there could be human faults too which made it sound so mysterious.

Man has a perpetual thirst for knowledge. For ages man has been discovering and inventing things which could never be dreamt of. Who could ever imagine an air plane in the sky before the Wright brothers actually invented a successful one, who could imagine that somehow we could really go and step on the moon? But yes people dared and succeeded at attempting such things.
Now it seems people have come far ahead and have come up with such extraordinarily brilliant ideas that sometimes they’re turning out to be more bizarre than brilliant.

Are you irritated while using touch screen devices in the bathtub or are you sometimes so busy that you need an extra hand to operate it? Then here comes “NOSE STYLUS” to your rescue. Anonymous is a hacktivist group which was formed on the image board 4chan, it has had the most monstrous transformation from a bunch of nerds hacking into people’s account and releasing their private pictures, to a giant internet conscience which has become a force to be reckoned with.

The concept of Meme’s that has become viral all over the net can be traced back to 4chan and with that to anonymous. A daily dose of troll dad, derp and derpina is a must for many of us know. From meme’s and outrageously X rated content anonymous  has grown to hacking government sites and attacking countless other sites.

Anonymous attacked the church of Scientology for taking down a Tom Cruise video about Scientology which went viral over the net.The church of Scientology tired to take down the video from the net because it  was subject to intense mockery all over the net. Anonymous which stands for freedom of speech attacked their site as a protest and distributed their personal cell numbers and private details all over the net. The protest was not just virtual, people took to the street and proved that anonymous was not just a bunch of nerds who wouldn't get out of their houses, they were One ! they were all together and would not rest or sit idle when someone was trying to censor the internet.

They attacked and took down many of Israeli governments sites, they protested what they called the “barbaric, brutal and despicable treatment of the Palestinian people”. They represent a sort of chaotic freedom, even though they do step on many legal boundaries and they surely piss off a lot of people but we can not discredit them for their contribution towards ensuring freedom of speech .

Wikileaks is an online organisation which publishes secret information and government files, it released many secret documents of the Afghanistan war, the corruption in Kenya  released diplomatic cables of the U.S state department.It published secret files relating to the prisoners detained in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp hence America declared Julian Assange as an enemy of the state. Due to the enormous pressure by american government and other parties involved,  Pay Pal and Visa the means through which people contributed to make the site free took out there support which left wikileaks without any funding. Anonymous, a figure of freedom of speech and knowledge that it is attacked the sites of Pay Pal and Visa and took it down to show there support for Julian Assagne and wikileaks.

They took down the site of WBC( Westboro Baptist Church) and swore to destroy them . WBC is an american independent Baptist church known for its extreme ideologies especially those against Gays. WBC believes that whatever goes wrong in this world is a message from God ! They came into the radar of anonymous for there senseless and mad rants about how the shootout in Connecticut's Sandy elementary school which resulted in 26 deaths, 20 of them being children was a message from God for accepting the the LGBT( Lesbians Gays Bi-sexual Transgender) community  into the society!

It is turning out to be a global brain, there is no criterion for entering it, one can enter it just by wishing to enter and participating on image boards and forums of 4chan, 711chan, IRC channels and youtube.

Anonymous India attacked the bsnl site in protest of the section 66A which is a loosely defined law which constricts and aims to censor the internet .

 Time magazine named Anonymous as one of the most influential group of people in the world !

Dream the magical realm, Brain the scientific landmine

Brain is a fascinating thing the more you try to understand it, the more it leaves you confounded.A mysterious and unexplained aspect of brain is DREAMING. Dreams are such experiences that are involuntarily felt by us during our sleep.

The science of studying dreams is called oneirology. Dreams occur in the phase of REM( Rapid-Eye Movement) sleep. It is that phase when we are the most conscious in our sleep. In many religions,  dreams are said to be the messages from God, that is why ancient Egyptians believed that people who dreamt were blessed, Mesopotamians, ancient Indians and ancient Chinese considered that some aspects of soul leave the body while dreaming.

Many famous artists have found ideas from their dreams. Paul McCartney found his famous number “yesterday” through a dream, Srinivasa Ramanujan, a great Indian mathematician was inspired by his dreams. Stephen King, Albert Einstein, Hitler and many more used their dreams to become what they are known for today.

Some dreams are common to most of us because they carry a hidden meaning. Being naked in public symbolizes the fear of getting exposed emotionally, being lost relates to unpreparedness, flying relates to sexual ambitions and being able to rise above problems. 

Brain is a puzzle

Its very comical that men tend to dream more of men while women dream equally of men and women and another interesting factoid is that the people we dream of are actually real people and not creations of our mind, It’s hard to believe that because we simply don’t remember those faces!

People who are blind by birth have dreams involving senses other than sight, like sound, smell, touch etc. Not only this, but a very few people dream in black and white, earlier the proportion was more but linking this with the development of coloured televisions, since the 1960s people have started having more coloured dreams.

Our parents,mentors keep telling us to dream big but is this really in our hands? Actually science has proven it quite is. Not fully but yes we are somewhat able to control our dreams. It can be done while lucid dreaming. It is a state when a dreamer is aware that he/she is dreaming! In this state we can control some aspects of our dream like the characters, environment etc. The director of hits like Avatar, Titanic, The terminator, James Cameron was inspired by his own subconscious and went on to make these blockbusters immortal movies.

Our brain uses the external influence in our dream. For example the sound in reality can be incorporated and we can hear it in our dream too. But some danger and alert sounds are not incorporated instead we are awakened by those sounds like a mother is awakened by the sound of a crying baby as that is an alert as well as an annoying sound for her as she would have to climb out of her bed to change the stinking shitty diaper.

Brain indeed is a mysterious realm, I can never understand my dreams but I am always left awestruck by them. I’m sure I’ll have an interesting one tonight and maybe you’ll have one too, Sweet dreams :)
